The Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) has donated Rs. 100 million to the President’s Fund.

Managing director of LIOC Dipak Das presented the cheque to Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, secretary to the president, at the Presidential Secretariat.

According to the President’s Media Division, the donation is in addition to LIOC’s ongoing support for the education, health, and cultural sectors in Sri Lanka.

The 100 Octane premium petrol, known as XP100 rating fuel, which was officially launched in Sri Lanka is being sold at Rs. 793 per litre, the Ministry of Power and Energy said.

Sri Lanka became the 08th country to officially launch this high-performance and Eco-friendly fuel.

The fuel was introduced at the Ninewells LIOC Filling Station on Kirimandala Road in Narahenpita yesterday.

It was jointly inaugurated by Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, State Minister of Power & Energy D. V. Chanaka Dinushan and Chairman of the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) Sujoy Choudhury.

The 100 Octane premium petrol is produced using high-octane gasoline produced through Octamax, an indigenously developed technology by Indian Oil’s R&D Centre.

Sri Lanka today will officially launch the 100 Octane premium petrol, known as XP100 rating fuel. 

The premium petrol is to be launched under the patronage of Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and the Chairman of the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC). 

According to LIOC, the 100 Octane premium petrol will be introduced at the Ninewells LIOC Filling Station on Kirimandala Road in Narahenpita today.

The 100 Octane premium petrol is produced using high-octane gasoline produced through Octamax, an indigenously developed technology by Indian Oil’s R&D Centre.

The fuel helps enhance the performance of vehicles, particularly high-end luxury cars and bikes.

According to the LIOC, the price of a litre of fuel will be much higher than that of ordinary fuel products.

The LIOC further states that the XP100 provides faster acceleration, smoother drivability, enhanced fuel economy, lower engine deposits and a significant reduction in emissions in the high compression ratio engine. 

It results in boosting vehicle performance and longer engine life, hence lower maintenance.

Sri Lanka’s key fuel suppliers, the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) have also revised fuel prices, in line with the price revision of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).

The Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) has announced that its fuel prices will be revised to match the reduced prices of the CPC.

Meanwhile, Sinopec has also said its fuel prices will be revised to match those of LIOC and the CPC.

However, Sinopec added that its price of Auto Diesel will remain unchanged at Rs. 314, while its price of Diesel is Rs. 3 less than that of CPC. 

The CPC announced that fuel prices will be reduced from midnight on Sunday (June 30).

Accordingly, the revised fuel prices are as follows;

• 92 Octane Petrol – reduced by Rs. 11 to Rs. 344
• 95 Octane Petrol – reduced by Rs. 41 to Rs. 379
• Super Diesel reduced – by Rs. 22 to Rs. 355 (Newswire)

Sri Lanka has held discussions on the proposal by the Indian Government through the Indian Oil Company (IOC) for a multi-product oil pipeline connecting Nagapattnam (India), Trincomalee Tank Farm, and Colombo. 

Taking to ‘X’, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that he met IOC officials yesterday on the sidelines of the India Energy week.  

He further said that technical studies, demand market analysis, financial analysis and business models will be conducted to decide on the mechanism related to the project. 

The minister added that discussions were also held about the investments and expansion of projects under the joint venture in Trincomalee tank farm, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL), and Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) retail operations. (NewsWire)

Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) has been granted the renewal of its Petroleum Products Licence by the Government of Sri Lanka. 

Accordingly, the local subsidiary of the Indian Oil Corporation will be allowed to continue its retail operations in Sri Lanka for another 20 years.

It is reported that the renewed Petroleum Products Licence is effective from January 22, 2024.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) is found to be selling fuel at a lesser price than the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) following the recent fuel price revision.

Fuel prices were revised yesterday (Oct 01), with the CPC, LIOC, and Sinopec increasing their prices. 

Despite the price hike, Sinopec is found to be selling Petrol Octane 92 at Rs. 7 lesser and Auto Diesel at Rs. 3 lesser than the price of the CPC and LIOC.

The CPC earlier announced that fuel prices will be revised with effect from midnight today.

The revised prices are as follows:

Petrol 92 increased by Rs. 10 per litre to Rs. 328

Fuel Octane 95 reduced by Rs. 20 to Rs. 365

Super Diesel increased by Rs. 6 to Rs. 346

Auto Diesel reduced by Rs. 2 to Rs. 308

The Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) has refuted reports circulating on social media pertaining to vehicle fuel capacity. 

LIOC said that rumours are circulating on social media claiming that it had issued a warning to vehicle owners to refrain from filling their fuel tanks to maximum capacity due to increasing temperature and that it would result in an explosion.

Issuing a clarification statement, LIOC stated that it had not issued any such warning and it was a fake message being circulated on social media platforms. 

LIOC further stated that automobile manufacturers design their vehicles considering all aspects of performance requirements, claims, and ambient conditions with built-in safety factors.

“The maximum volume specified in the fuel tank for petrol/ diesel vehicles is no exception. It is, therefore, perfectly safe to fill the fuel in vehicles up to the full limit (max.) as specified by the manufacturer irrespective of winter or summer,” it added. (NewsWire)
