Litro Gas Lanka has announced that domestic gas prices will remain unchanged for the month of June, despite challenges in international market prices and exchange rate fluctuations.

The company said the decision was taken with the aim of providing relief to consumers.

As such, the prices valid in May will continue through June.

Accordingly, the domestic gas prices for the Colombo District are as follows:

• 12.5kg cylinder – Rs. 4,765
• 5kg cylinder – Rs. 1,910

Cabinet approval has been granted for an Oman-based company to supply Liquid Petroleum Gas to Litro Gas Lanka for the year 2025.

According to the government, a decision was taken to award the tender to OQ Trading Limited after calling for international bids.

Bids were submitted by OQ Trading Limited and Siam Gas Trading Pte. Ltd, but the latter’s bid was rejected due to technical reasons.

As such, the President’s proposal to grant the contract to OQ Trading Limited has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. (Newswire)

A total of 14 Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) have been received from potential investors for the Strategic Divestiture of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. (LGL) and Litro Gas Terminals (Pvt) Ltd. (LGT). 

According to Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry, the government had called for REOIs on 16th January 2024, with the deadline for submission of proposals ending at 2 pm today (Mar 15).

The REOIs received were considered by the Opening Committee appointed by the Special Cabinet Appointed Negotiating Committee.

The Government of Sri Lanka has called for an invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) for the divestiture of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd and Litro Gas Terminal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. 

According to the State-Owned Enterprises Restructuring Unit, the process is scheduled to take place between January 16, 2024 and early July 2024.

The deadline for the submission of EOIs is 02.00 pm on February 16, 2024, while the selection of shortlisted bidders will take place in early March. 

The evaluation of bids and the selection of a successful bidder is scheduled for mid-June 2024.
