The national QR payment adoption programme will launch its ‘Lucky Draw’ on October 27, offering a total of Rs. 51 million in cash prizes to more than 6,000 winners over six months.

According to a statement issued by GovTech Sri Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., the nationwide programme aims to encourage the use of LankaQR payments among customers and merchants, with cash prizes of up to Rs. 1 million per winner.

All LankaQR transactions made between September 1, 2026, and February 28, 2027, will be eligible for the draw, with no separate registration required.

Under the programme, 250 winners will be selected each week to receive Rs. 5,000 each, comprising 125 customers and 125 merchants.

Meanwhile, the monthly grand draw will select six winners, including three customers and three merchants, with two winners each receiving Rs. 1 million, Rs. 500,000 and Rs. 250,000.

Each eligible LankaQR transaction, including person-to-merchant and person-to-person payments, will automatically enter both parties into the weekly and monthly draws.

GovTech stated that the first draw, scheduled for October 27, will include four weekly draws and one monthly grand draw covering transactions made in September.

Thereafter, weekly and monthly draws for each month will be conducted during the following month.

All cash prizes will be credited directly to the winners’ bank accounts.

The draws will be conducted by LankaPay, with support from GovTech, using transaction data provided by participating banks.

A designated Draw Committee, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Digital Economy, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Auditor General’s Department, will oversee the process.

According to GovTech, winners will be announced through their respective banks within two weeks of each draw, while details of prize distribution will be communicated through the Ministry of Digital Economy and GovTech. (Newswire)
