A private bus has caught fire along the Embilipitiya- Colombo main road today.

According to reports, the incident had occurred this morning in the Madampe area. 

The cause of the fire is unknown, while pictures of the incident show major damage to the bus. (Newswire/ image- Accident1st)

At least 26 people have been injured in a collision between a bus and a lorry in the Irattakulam area in the Madampe area on the Chilaw – Colombo Main Road this morning.

According to the Police, the injured persons have been admitted to the Chillaw Hospital.

A private bus plying from Devala Junction to Chillaw had collided with a lorry transporting cement, which had also been travelling in the same direction.

It is reported that the bus crashed into the lorry due to the driver being unable to control the speed of the vehicle, while heavy rains had also been experienced in the said area at the time of the incident. (Newswire/ Images- Accident1st)
