Iran sees dialogue as the only way to build constructive relations with other nations, but will not tolerate attempts to impose someone else’s will on the country, President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

“Iran does not seek war or instability and always calls only for dialogue and constructive cooperation with other countries. However, any attempt to impose someone else’s will on the nation and make it surrender is destined to fail. The Iranian people will never accept such an approach,” Pezeshkian said in a statement on Telegram.

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were struck. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel. US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were also hit.

Iran and the US held several rounds of talks in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on April 11. The Iranian delegation was led by parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while Vice President JD Vance headed the US delegation. Both Tehran and Washington said following the negotiations that no agreement on finding a long-term solution to the conflict had been reached due to multiple disagreements. (TASS- Russia)

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has released a letter addressed to the people of the United States, urging them to look beyond “distortions and manufactured narratives” about Iran and its role in global affairs.

In the message, Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s long history as one of the world’s oldest civilizations, stressing that the country has never initiated a war in modern times despite enduring invasions, sanctions, and foreign interventions. He noted that Iranians distinguish between governments and ordinary people, saying they hold no enmity toward Americans.

The letter criticized the U.S. military presence around Iran and recalled the 1953 coup backed by Washington, support for Saddam Hussein during the 1980s war, and repeated sanctions. Pezeshkian argued that these pressures have not weakened Iran, pointing instead to advances in literacy, education, healthcare, and technology.

He also addressed recent tensions, stating that Iran pursued negotiations, reached an agreement, and fulfilled all its commitments.

The Iranian President further explained that the decision to withdraw from that agreement, escalate toward confrontation, and launch two acts of aggression in the midst of negotiations were destructive choices made by the U.S. government, choices that served the delusions of a foreign aggressor.

“Attacking Iran’s vital infrastructure—including energy and industrial facilities—directly targets the Iranian people. Beyond constituting a war crime, such actions carry consequences that extend far beyond Iran’s borders. They generate instability, increase human and economic costs, and perpetuate cycles of tension, planting seeds of resentment that will endure for years. This is not a demonstration of strength; it is a sign of strategic bewilderment and an inability to achieve a sustainable solution,” he said, condemning attacks on Iran’s infrastructure.

Pezeshkian further accused Israel of influencing U.S. policy by manufacturing an Iranian threat to divert attention from its treatment of Palestinians.

“Is it not also the case that America has entered this aggression as a proxy for Israel, influenced and manipulated by that regime? Is it not true that Israel, by manufacturing an Iranian threat, seeks to divert global attention away from its crimes toward the Palestinians? Is it not evident that Israel now aims to fight Iran to the last American soldier and the last American taxpayer dollar, shifting the burden of its delusions on to Iran, the region, and the United States itself in pursuit of illegitimate interests?” he questioned.

He concluded by urging Americans to consider engagement over hostility, warning that confrontation is “costly and futile” and that the choice will shape the future for generations. (Newswire)
