The Director of W.M. Mendis Distilleries Arjun Aloysius and two others have been sentenced to 6 months in prison for non-payment of Value Added Tax (VAT).

The prison sentence was issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today, based on a case filed by the Inland Revenue Department.

Accordingly, the accused have been imprisoned for defaulting payment of Rs. 3.5 billion VAT. (Newswire)
