The staff of the Presidential Secretariat officially resumed duties for the new year, following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, under the leadership of Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat today.

The Secretary to the President extended New Year greetings to the staff and engaged in a cordial discussion with them.

Addressing the gathering, Kumanayake said he expects all members of the public service to approach the year ahead with renewed energy and commitment, in support of the President’s transformative vision to build a new and progressive nation.

He further encouraged all staff members to embrace new attitudes and fulfil their duties diligently, aiming to make the Presidential Secretariat a model institution in the public sector. He also expressed his appreciation for the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the staff thus far.

The United States has committed to providing essential support to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy, the message being conveyed at a meeting between US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung and President’s Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), during the meeting held at the Presidential secretariat today, the US Ambassador announced that support would be focused on fostering an export-driven economy in the country.

Additionally, Ambassador Chung conveyed congratulations from US President Joe Biden to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, delivered through Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

She also noted that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are prepared to offer financial support to help enhance the economic prospects of Sri Lanka.

The United States has pledged both financial and technical support for President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s initiatives aimed at preventing fraud and corruption.

The US has also expressed its commitment to assisting efforts for good governance and ensuring the security of Sri Lanka whenever needed.

Additionally, the United States supports the new president’s programs focused on developing renewable energy, fostering an export-oriented agricultural industry, and alleviating rural poverty.

The US Ambassador further noted that the current program providing lunches for rural schools will be expanded to include urban schools in the future.
