The Cabinet has approved the proposal for acquiring additional funds for the completion of the Nanu-Oya Railway Station Modernisation Project.

Approval was granted at a Cabinet meeting in April 2023 to implement the said project by utilizing funds from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). 

However, the initial contract value of Rs. 74. 63 million for the modernization of the Nanu-Oya Railway Station has increased to Rs. 101.81 million.

Accordingly, the Cabinet approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Tourism and Lands to complete the relevant modernization activities by the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau and the additional amount required to be obtained from the SLTDA and SLTPB.

It has been proposed to acquire the funds on the recommendations of the Department of Railway under the revised estimate. (Newswire)
