Sri Lanka today launched National Integrity Week 2026, declared under the theme “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka.”

The programme, running from 27 to 31 July, officially commenced at 9.00 am with the administration of the National Integrity Pledge and the introduction of a new Code of Ethics at the Presidential Secretariat and all government institutions nationwide.

Announced through a circular signed by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, the initiative is jointly implemented by the Presidential Secretariat and the Clean Sri Lanka Programme.

Its primary objective is to enhance the quality, efficiency, and transparency of the public service while fostering a system of governance free from corruption.

The week’s programme has been structured around daily themes:

  • 27 July – Promoting institutional integrity.
  • 28 July – Promoting financial, digital, entrepreneurial and technological integrity.
  • 29 July – Promoting spiritual, ethical, cultural and social integrity.
  • 30 July – Promoting operational, infrastructure, service delivery and labour integrity.
  • 31 July – Promoting environmental, resource management, rural and community empowerment integrity.

Under the guidance of the Presidential Secretariat, Internal Affairs Units in every government institution will receive public complaints relating to corruption, misconduct, or administrative shortcomings.

Complaints may be submitted via QR codes, email, post, telephone, or web‑based messaging platforms. A dedicated digital monitoring system will track the action taken by institutional heads in response.

Following the conclusion of National Integrity Week on 31 July, the programme will continue across all government and semi‑government institutions until 31 December 2026. (Newswire)

The Presidential Secretariat has announced that National Integrity Week 2026 will be held from 27 to 31 July, under the theme “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka.”

The initiative, aimed at building an integrity‑driven public service, will focus on eradicating corruption, strengthening ethical values, and promoting transparency across all state institutions.

The programme is designed not merely as a symbolic week but as the launch of short‑, medium‑, and long‑term reforms to transform the public service.

Each day of the week has been assigned a specific theme:

  • 27 July – Promotion of institutional integrity and a law‑abiding public service.
  • 28 July – Promotion of financial, digital, entrepreneurial and technological integrity.
  • 29 July – Promotion of spiritual, ethical, cultural and social integrity.
  • 30 July – Promotion of operational, infrastructure, service delivery and labour integrity.
  • 31 July – Promotion of environmental, resource management and sustainable green culture.

All ministries and state institutions are required to implement activities under these themes, coordinated through Internal Affairs Units or newly formed Integrity Committees.

On the opening day, public officers across the island will gather at 9.00 am to take the National Integrity Oath, pledging to uphold transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct.

Special events such as Integrity Walks, village‑level awareness programmes, and the display of the 10 Clean Sri Lanka Ideals in Sinhala, Tamil and English are also planned.

The initiative will culminate in the National Integrity Awards 2026, scheduled for International Anti‑Corruption Day on 9 December, to honour institutions and officers demonstrating exemplary performance in promoting integrity. (Newswire)
