The Ministry of Public Administration has announced that state institutions have resumed operations from today (April 15) following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year holidays.

According to the Ministry, government offices will function as usual on April 15, 16, and 17.

Issuing a notice, the Ministry said state administrative activities across the country will return to normal schedules to ensure uninterrupted public services during the post‑holiday period. (Newswire)

The Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) has requested the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide information on the incident on Tuesday (02 Sept) in which a group of NPP and JVP members had forcibly entered its Gampaha District Office.

Filing a Right to Information (RT) request, FSP Propaganda Secretary, Duminda Nagamuwa, sought information from IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya. 

In a letter to the IGP, Duminda Nagamuwa raised 16 questions regarding the Police force’s actions related to the incident. (Newswire)

The operational office of the United National Party (UNP) in Dambulla has been attacked by an unidentified group, Minister Harin Fernando said, hinting at pre-election violence.

Minister Fernando said the UNP office is located at the residence of former Dambulla Municipality councillor Maya Padeniya.

He further said that the office sustained damage to boards prominently featuring the images of President Ranil Wickramasinghe and the Dambulla Constituency Organizer.

Minister Harin Fernando made the remarks after having visited the site to assess the situation and implement measures to restore order. 

He directed the Police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the perpetrators responsible for this destructive act. 

Condemning the opposition’s alleged involvement, Minister Fernando labelled such actions as indicative of their desperation and inability to face challenges gracefully.

He added that authorities have lodged a formal complaint with the Dambulla Police, who are actively investigating the incident. (Newswire)
