Minister Sunil Handunneththi has issued instructions to temporarily halt the collection of parking fees from local and foreign tourists visiting the Polhena Beach in Matara. 

In a statement on social media, Minister Handunneththi said a case was being deliberated at the courts currently regarding the plot of land connected to the Polhena Beach.

He further said that until a court verdict is issued, it has been decided to suspend the collection of fees for vehicles parked on the plot of land by local and foreign tourists.

Minister Sunil Handunneththi, as the Chairman of the Matara District Coordinating Committee, has instructed the relevant officials of the committee and the Police in this regard. (Newswire)
