The Sri Lanka Police has announced that the data system used for issuing Police Clearance Certificates has been temporarily deactivated due to emergency maintenance, prompting the introduction of an interim procedure for applicants.

According to the Police, the Police Clearance Division located on the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya building, Battaramulla, will continue handling applications and printing certificates under the temporary arrangement until the system is restored.

Applicants are advised to access the official website www.police.lk, download the application form via the “Download Application” option, complete it, and submit it along with photocopies of their National Identity Card and Passport to the email address clear.application@police.gov.lk. No payment is required at this stage.

Once the system is reactivated, applicants who used the temporary procedure must resubmit their applications through the online system and make the necessary payments.

For those who have already submitted applications, the Police said reference numbers of applicants whose clearance reports can be issued will be published on the official website. 

Those applicants can collect their certificates from the Police Clearance Division at Suhurupaya, with facilities available even on Saturdays and Sundays. 

Applicants whose reference numbers are not published will receive their reports once the system is restored.

Police Headquarters confirmed that technical work is underway to reactivate the system as quickly as possible and assured that the public will be informed immediately once services resume. (Newswire)
