The Colombo High Court has accepted indictments against former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, his son Ramith Rambukwella, his daughter Amali Rambukwella, and domestic aide Nipuni Krishnajina in connection with two cases filed by the Bribery Commission.

The indictments were presented before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal, following which all four accused were released on bail. 

The court scheduled pre-trial conferences for the two cases on January 12 and 14, 2026.

Separately, additional indictments were filed against Keheliya Rambukwella and Ramith Rambukwella in a third case, for which they were also granted bail. 

The pre-trial conference for this case has been set for January 20, 2026.

The cases relate to allegations of unlawfully acquiring assets and property during Keheliya Rambukwella’s tenure as a government minister. (Newswire)

Rambukwella is facing charges of unlawful asset accumulation, with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) alleging he failed to account for assets exceeding Rs. 296 million.

Ramith Rambukwella, son of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, was formally indicted today (11) before the Colombo High Court over allegations of illicit asset accumulation.

The case was heard before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal, where the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption presented the charges.

Following the indictment, the accused was released on cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and two sureties of Rs. 1 million each.

The court also ordered the collection of his fingerprints and called for a report.

The charges stem from his alleged failure to disclose the acquisition of assets and funds valued at Rs. 275.3 million, out of a total Rs. 296.5 million earned between January 1, 2022, and November 14, 2023, while serving as the personal secretary to his father.

Ramith Rambukwella, the son of former health minister Keheliya Rambukwella, has been remanded until 03 June in connection with a bribery case in which his father is also an accused. 

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court remanded Ramith Rambukwella after he was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) after recording a statement today. 

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali yesterday granted permission to the Bribery Commission to name Ramith Rambukwella as a suspect in a corruption case linked to his father. 

The court yesterday also further remanded former minister Keheliya Rambukwella until 03 June 2025, after he was arrested by the Bribery Commission in connection with 03 complaints related to corruption. (Newswire)

The Colombo High Court has issued an order preventing the use of two luxury apartments in Colpetty purchased by Ramith Rambukwella, the son of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

The said two luxury apartments in the Colpetty area have reportedly been purchased by Ramith Rambukwella for Rs. 80 million and Rs. 65 million.
