Storex Renewables (Pvt) Ltd has launched SigenStor Neo, an all-in-one solar and battery storage system from Sigenergy, in Sri Lanka. The only scalable and future-proof solution comes as the Ministry of Energy moves all new rooftop solar connections to the Net Plus scheme, closing Net Metering and Net Accounting to new applicants.

With the closure of practically available solar schemes, consumers are now required to have their own storage and be independent in their solar power generation, making on-site storage more valuable for maximising self-consumption and controlling costs. Jagath Sumathipala, Chairman of Sumathi Holdings, leads the Group’s commitment to renewable energy with the commissioning of a 5-megawatt (MW) ground-mounted solar power plant at Wewila, Eheliyagoda. In a landmark move for Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector, Macksons Solar, in collaboration with Macktiles, unveiled the country’s largest rooftop solar project at the Macktiles Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. factory complex in Bandaragama.

This 10 megawatt (MW) installation comprises over 18,000 high efficiency solar panels, advanced inverter systems and state-of-the-art monitoring technology.

Together, they are expected to generate approximately 12 GWh of clean energy annually, while reducing approximately 8,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Spread across the extensive rooftop of the Macktiles manufacturing facility, the 10 MW solar system delivers renewable energy directly to the plant, significantly lowering its reliance on grid power while channeling surplus electricity to support a more sustainable national energy network.
