Samantha Ranasinghe was sworn in as the National People’s Power (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Kegalle District. 

He took oaths as an MP before Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne in Parliament today. 

Samantha Ranasinghe fills the vacancy in Parliament created due to the death of NPP MP Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera.

The National Election Commission has announced the appointment of Ratnayake Mudiyanselage Samantha Ranasinghe as a Member of Parliament representing the Kegalle District.

Ranasinghe has been elected under Section 62 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, No. 1 of 1981, following the death of MP Hapu Arachchige Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera. 

The appointment has been made in accordance with Section 99(13)(b) of the Constitution and Section 64(2) of the same Act.
