Four individuals have been apprehended for allegedly assaulting a sports coach and two students from a prominent school in Ratnapura on Tuesday (Nov 14).

The Police stated that the group had assaulted the coach and his students while they had engaged in training at the Seevali Ground.

An investigation was launched following a complaint filed in this regard at the Ratnapaura Police.

The injured coach and students were admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital following the incident. 

The four suspects who had assaulted the victims were arrested yesterday. They are aged between 28 and 48 years and are residents of Opanayake, Ratnapura, and Rambukkana. 

Among the suspects, two are members of an Athletics Association, while another is a District-level Athletics coach.

The Ratnapura Police is conducting investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
