The agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Türkiye is effective from December 11, 2023, it was reported.

The agreement, concerning Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance, came into effect following the completion of internal requirements of both countries.

It was signed during the official visit of then-Foreign Minister of Türkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Sri Lanka on 28 January 2022. 

The agreement comes into effect at a time when Sri Lanka and Türkiye celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations this year and is expected to bring mutual benefits to the people of both countries. (NewsWire)
