The Sri Lanka Police has announced the continuation and restructuring of its “Tell IGP” project in 2026, a service that enables the public to directly reach the Inspector General of Police (IGP) through online channels.

The initiative allows both local and overseas individuals to submit complaints in Sinhala, Tamil, or English. Citizens can report organized crime, drug trafficking, traffic violations, public nuisances, corruption, and other offenses directly to the IGP.

Complaints received are forwarded to relevant police stations by divisional officers, with investigation officers promptly assigned. If a complaint is not resolved fairly, the system provides the option to resubmit the matter to the IGP for further review.

Access to the service is available via the official police website www.police.lk, through the dedicated link https://telligp.police.lk, or by email at telligp@police.gov.lk.

To strengthen delivery, computer operators in 48 regional police divisions have been trained and deployed, ensuring the service is effectively implemented island‑wide.

The Sri Lanka Police has announced that its “Tell IGP” project, a public complaint mechanism currently in operation, will be restructured and further implemented in 2026.

According to the Police, the service provides an online platform for members of the public to submit complaints directly to the Inspector General of Police regarding any incident or matter.

According to a statement from the Police, both local and foreign individuals can utilize the service to submit complaints in Sinhala, Tamil, or English. Necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate these submissions via an online system.

The complaint service allows the public to directly report to the IGP regarding individuals involved in organized crime, drug trafficking, or other criminal activities, both domestically and internationally. In addition, it accepts complaints about general offences, traffic violations, public harassment, and corruption.

Upon receipt of a complaint, the relevant division notifies the appropriate police station, and investigating officers are promptly dispatched to take action. If a submitted complaint is not adequately addressed, the complainant has the option to inform the Inspector General of Police again using the same service.

The ‘Tell IGP’ online service was relaunched by Sri Lanka Police, under the aegis of Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya yesterday. 

The online service provides the public with the opportunity to directly submit comments and suggestions about the Police service, as well as, any kind of complaint that should be brought to the attention of the IGP.

The public can file their complaints via the E-Service link on the official website www.police.lk, select the ‘Tell IGP’ icon and submit their complaint by recording the correct information in the form. (https://telligp.police.lk/)

Those who feel that their complaints filed at Police stations have not been subjected to proper investigation can forward their complaints to the IGP via this service, which is a 24-hour service. (Newswire)
