A 45-day-old infant from Jaffna has died due to injuries sustained to the head, it was reported.

According to Lankadeepa newspaper, the Tellippalai Police said the child’s mother had admitted the male infant to the Alavetti Provincial Hospital claiming that the infant had fallen unconscious after breastfeeding.

The infant had later been transferred to the Tellippalai Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

The postmortem examination revealed that the infant had died due to injuries sustained to the head.

The Tellippalai Police have arrested the mother of the infant in connection to the death. (Newswire)
