Three members from the same family were reported dead following a collision between a three-wheeler and a tipper truck in the Thulhiriya area along the Ambepussa – Alawwa road today.

The Police stated that the victims were a 40-year-old man, his 39-year-old wife, and their 13-year-old son. 

The accident had occurred when a three-wheeler travelling from Ambepussa to Alawwa collided head-on with a tipper truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The victims who are residents of Rambukkana succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Warakapola Hospital.

The 39-year-old driver of the tipper truck has been arrested in connection to the accident.

Police investigations have revealed that the accident had occurred due to the reckless driving of the drivers of both vehicles. (NewsWire)
