Representatives of local musical bands have requested to extend the time limit for musical events in Sri Lanka, during a discussion with Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hiniduma Sunil Senevi.

At the meeting held on Monday, the representatives put forward suggestions regarding extending the time limit for concerts, resolving issues when booking playgrounds and renting speakers, addressing discrepancies related to the entertainment tax, and ensuring the safety of fans. 

Responding to them, Minister Hiniduma Sunil Senevi said steps will be taken to raise the matter with the Cabinet to extend the time limit for concerts without inconveniencing the public. (Newswire)

Member of the local music band, Sunflower Band, Neil Warnakulasuriya has made a request from the government to extend the time limit to end music concerts to 01.00 am. 

Neil Warnakulasuriya made the request during a special media briefing held by the Sri Lankan Singers Association in Colombo today.  

He pointed out that there were significant issues faced due to music concerts ending at 10.00 pm from Monday to Thursday. 

As such, he requested the government to permit extending the time limit to end a concert at 01.00 am. 

Pointing out that several people in the music industry are unable to conduct their activities, Neil Warnakulasuriya said they are not keen to end concerts at 10.00 pm. (Newswire)
