The Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) has formed the Jaffna Municipal Council after securing a majority of votes. 

ITAK General Secretary M.A. Sumanthiran said ITAK’s Vivekanandarajah Mathivathani was elected Mayor of the Jaffna Municipal Council.
