The Police have fired water cannons to disperse a protest staged in front of Diyatha Uyana in Battaramulla today. 

The protest was staged by university non-academic employees over several issues, including cuts to salary and monthly allowances over the last 08 years.

It is reported that university non-academic employees were engaged in a token strike over the last 12 days. 

A protest was launched today parallel to the ongoing token strike. (Newswire)
