The Department of Meteorology has requested the public not to fall victim to false weather news shared on social media and other websites. 

Issuing a statement, the department said several false weather forecasts on Sri Lanka are being circulated on social media at present.

The Met Department urged the public to pay attention and follow the weather forecast officially broadcast by the department.
