The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for strong winds in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-central, Northwestern provinces and the Trincomalee district. 

Effective until 11.00 am tomorrow (01), the department has warned that strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected in the above-mentioned areas due to the active south-west monsoonal condition.

The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for strong winds in the Western, Sabragamuwa, Central, Southern, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, and the Trincomalee and Batticaloa Districts, effective for the 24 hours ending at 11.00 am tomorrow (29). 

According to the Department, strong winds of about 50-60kmph are expected in the said areas due to the Cyclonic Storm ‘Montha’ in the Northeast of Sri Lanka in the Bay of Bengal. 

As such, the Met Department has issued red alerts to 22 districts, and amber alerts to 03 districts, warning of strong winds. (Newswire)

As such, strong winds of about 50-60 kmph can be expected at times over the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-western and North-Central provinces, due to the active south-west monsoonal condition.
