Two more trails are being considered for the tourist attraction ‘World’s End’, with these trails expected to open up even more breathtaking scenery for visitors, it is reported.

According to the Sunday Times, one route under consideration is via the Nonpareil Estate, a well-known tea plantation in the Ratnapura District, and the other trail is through the Ihala Galagama Road through Gathpothutenna.

The two new routes were taken up for discussion during a meeting of the Imbulpe Divisional Secretariat last week.

The Surathali Ella, Pahantuwawa waterfall, Hirikatu Oya and Samanawewa waterfall are some of the popular areas that will be covered by the two trails.

Discussions have also been held on promoting Belihuloya as a tourist destination, as the area is also connected to the ‘World’s End’.

It is reported that a four-kilometre road leading to the ‘World’s End’ past the Belihul Oya rest area has been closed by the Department of Forest Conservation a few years ago.

Officials believe that reopening the road will boost tourism in Belihuloya. As such, the Imbulpe Regional Coordination Committee has proposed to develop the Belihuloya area as a tourist zone.

About half a million local and foreign tourists visit the ‘World’s End’ annually, and currently, only three routes are available through the Nuwara Eliya district for tourists. (Newswire)
