Sri Lanka Cricket has informed the Indian Cricket board that Sri Lanka is ready to host this year’s Indian Premier League which is currently postponed due to CoronaVirus threat.

Indian Cricket board postponed IPL until further notice after India went to nationwide lockdown until May 3rd.

Speaking to Lankadeepa Newspaper, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva said that India is likely to look into Sri Lanka’s proposal if the Covid19 threat eases in Sri Lanka in the next few days.

“If IPL is called off, Indian Cricket board and IPL stakeholders will have to bear a loss more than $500 Million. So, it will be beneficial for them to conduct the league in another country like they did in 2009 in South Africa”.

“If we get the go ahead from them to this proposal, we are ready to provide all the facilities necessary under the supervision of Sri Lankan health authorities”.

If IPL is played in Sri Lanka it wil bring more cashflow to the country and SLC, he further added.
