Wariyapola Police has started investigations to arrest suspects of an incident of assault which took place yesterday night in Wariyapola, where the brother and the father of a navy sailor was attacked by a group of men, Lankadeepa Newspaper reports.
The persons assaulted have been admitted to the Variyapola hospital for treatment and attack has taken place over Covid suspicion.
The alleged assault had occurred when the brother and father of the said navy sailor had gone to Wariyapola town to buy some essential medicines for the infant child of the navy sailor, suspecting them to be Coronavirus infected.
The assaulted persons have stated that the navy sailor is based in a naval camp in Jaffna and hasn’t come home in months.
