  • From tomorrow, if anyone is travelling to work, a document in an electronic form (soft copy) or a valid official identification card issued by the workplace is mandatory for them to possess while travelling.
  • Public servants who travel to work by their own vehicles are advised to travel to their respective workplaces before 8.30 am and employees in the private sector are advised to travel between 8.30 am to 10 am, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
  • He also said that when returning home from work, public servants using their own vehicles are advised to travel between 3pm to 4pm, while the time allocated for private sector employees are between 4pm to 5pm.
  • Stating further about the travel advisories, the DIG said that three-wheelers and hired vehicles are allowed to be used for traveling to work, but they must adhere to quarantine rules and regulations.
  • Construction sites, beauty salons and other businesses are allowed to resume work from tomorrow, subject to adhering to the guidelines issued to them.
  • Hotels can operate, but no restaurants will be permitted to carry on their operations. The authorities are particular with this regulation, in order to discourage the gathering of large crowds. He also mentioned that restaurants or shops that sell cooked food, tea, fruit juice etc., gyms, spas or night clubs are not permitted to operate.
  • NIC last digit based system will be in force from tomorrow. People who have 1 or 2 as the last digit in their NICs can go to the nearby shop by walking. Vehicles cannot be used.
