Sri Lankans in 5 countries will be repatriated from May 21-28

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dinesh Gunawardena has informed the Cabinet of Ministers that so far 4500 persons have been
returned under the program of repatriating Sri Lankans and there are around 41000
persons expecting to return.

They are gradually repatriated to Sri Lanka based on the factors such as quarantine requirements, he has said accroding to the Cabinet decisions.

Accordingly, Sri Lankans in lndonesia, Russia, Bangladesh, Qatar and Belarus will be
repatriated from May 21,-28.

After that, steps will be taken to repatriate Sri Lankans in Middle East and Maldives on
priority basis.

ln addition, it has been planned to repatriate around 4040 Sri Lankans in abroad with
short-term visa. (Special Aircrafts will not be deployed for this purpose.)
