Minister Arumugam Thondaman passed away short while ago at Thalangama Hospital, Hospital Director confirmed.
Minister has reportedly died due to a Heart Attack.
He is 55 years old and led Ceylon Workers Congress.
Arumugan Thondaman, is the Cabinet Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development and the grandson of prominent unionist Saumyamoorthi Thondaman in Sri Lanka.
Earlier today he was pictured with the new Indian High Commissioner when they met to discussc bilateral cooperation for community development including the ongoing Indian Housing Project in the plantation sector and the landmark Jaffna Cultural Centre.
