A woman had climbed up an electricity pole and staged a protest in the Kamburupitiya town today (30).
The Kamburupitiya Police said the woman had climbed up the electricity pole over a family dispute and had remained there close to an hour.
Attempts to bring the woman down by female Police Officers had been ineffective.
Area residents together with Police Officers had thereafter managed to remove the woman from the electricity pole and had admitted her to the Kamburupitiya Base Hospital.
The Kamburupitiya Police said the woman is said to be suffering from a mental illness.
