Former Minister of Finance and United National Party (UNP) member Ravi Karunanayake has failed to secure a seat in Parliament following the General Elections 2020.

Results of the General Elections showed the UNP in fourth place at most polling divisions failing to secure the necessary votes to be elected to Parliament.

Ravi Karunanayake first entered Parliament in 1994 under the national list of the Democratic United National Front.

Following the dissolution of Parliament in 1999 he joined the United National Party.

Karunanayake has served as the Minister of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and Power and Energy.

He is one of the main politicians accused in the Central Bank Bond Scam reported in March 2016. (Newswire)
