United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has not yet resigned from the leadership post, sources close to Wickremesinghe said.
Meanwhile, the UNP in a statement today, said that the UNP leader in a meeting with party senior leaders yesterday had pointed out the need for a new leader for the party.
The statement, however, did not say that Ranil Wickramasinghe had decided to step down as claimed by UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. (NewsWire)
