Tharanga Paranavitana retires from all forms of cricket : Holds unknown Sri Lanka record

Former Sri Lanka Test Opening Batsman, Tharanga Paranavitana (38) has decided to announce his retirement from all forms of cricket.

The left-handed batsman who represented Sri Lanka in 32 Test matches ended his first class career today, playing the encounter between Tamil Union and Negombo CC at Colts grounds.

Paranavithana scored almost 15,000 first class runs (14913) with 40 hundreds including 2 Test hundreds against India.

Tharanga Paranavithana also holds the record for most first class runs scored in Sri Lanka with 12,522 runs at an average of 48.16.
