A woman who was admitted to Nagoda Hospital after some time spent in quarantine in a tourist hotel in Aluthgama, has escaped from the hospital yesterday morning, said the hospital director Dr. Thamara Kalubowila.

The woman has been identified as an 80-year old returnee from Australia, who was undergoing quarantine in Hotel Eden in Moragalla, Aluthgama.

The woman was hospitalised due to her showing symptoms of a mental illness and it was found that she was missing around 7.30 am in the morning yesterday when a nurse had visited her to give her prescribed medicines, hospital authorities said.

Her tissue samples have been sent for a PCR test and it has not been confirmed yet that she is Covid-19 infected or suspected to be so, elaborated the hospital director. (NewsWire)
