WATCH : The Sri Lankan village battling wild monkeys

The increasing population of wild monkeys has forced many families in Sri Nishshankamallapura to abandon their village.

Sri Nishshankamallapura is a village situated 05Km away from the Polonnaruwa Town and close to the Gal Viaharaya in the area.

Nearly 400 residents of the village have given up their daily activities, including farming due to the threats posed by wild monkeys.

The residents claim they are not safe in the area due to being continuously attacked by the wild monkeys.

They have called on authorities to contain the growing population of wild monkeys and to provide a safe and secure environment to live. (Newswire)
