- 6 villages in the Rambukkana area were locked down, following the detection of two COVID -19 patients yesterday (16).
- Over 100 PCR tests were carried out at the Colombo Municipal Council after CMC worker tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Colombo Mayoress Rosi Senanayake also tested negative.

- The Health Promotion Bureau stated that 8,589 PCR tests were carried out yesterday (16) to identify COVID-19 infected persons. So far, a total of 374, 448 PCR tests have been conducted island wide.
- Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that shops, restaurants and pharmacies will not be permitted to open today (17) and tomorrow (19) in areas where curfew has been imposed.
