The Chinese Embassy in Colombo has accused the US of playing two opposing roles at the same time in its diplomatic approach with Sri Lanka.
The Embassy made the observation, in response to US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s statement in Sri Lanka today claiming that China is a predator.
US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo concluded his 2-day official visit to Sri Lanka this afternoon.
Addressing a joint media conference held at the Foreign Ministry in Colombo today, Pompeo said that China is a predator and continues to violate sovereignty on land and at sea.
He further said that the US comes as a friend and a partner, and wants to take the partnership with Sri Lanka forward based on democratic values.
