Sri Lanka Cricket Coach Mickey Arthur has responded to queries on social media on the non-inclusion of young batsman Pathum Nissanka in the Sri Lankan squad that will face off against England in a two match test series in Galle.

Many had pointed out that Nissanka holds the highest career batting average of 67 in first class cricket, but has not been granted an opportunity to play for Sri Lanka.

Responding to the queries, Sri Lanka Coach Mickey Arthur said “Pathum Nissanka is totally on our radar, but has not played domestic cricket due to a back injury”.

Arthur further said Nissanka has recommenced training and will be selected based on performance.

Stating that Pathum Nissanka’s inclusion depends on his clearance of the return to play policy, Mickey Arthur added that he is aware of the cricketer and is really keen to see him play for Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
