Wedding trouble for Sri Lankan cricketers after new Covid scare

Sri Lanka’s tour of the West Indies is likely to be postponed after two individuals involved in the training pool tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

Head Coach Mickey Arthur and top order batsman Lahiru Thirimanne tested positive after being subjected to PCR tests on Tuesday (02).

Both individuals will be taken to a quarantine hotel identified by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) today. Meanwhile, all players who have been identified as their close contacts have been instructed to self-quarantine.

Thirimanne had reportedly attended the wedding of wicketkeeper batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama on Tuesday. All the Sri Lankan cricketers who attended the wedding have now been asked to self- quarantine as well.

Meanwhile, the wedding of Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis which is scheduled for next week is also under jeopardy due to the new Covid scare, as Kusal Mendis is also undergoing self- quarantine at present. (NewsWire)
