A man has been killed after being run-over by a drunk driver in the Oruwala Junction in Athurugiriya this morning.
Video footage has emerged of the driver in a van running over the man who was seen walking on the side of the road. The van is later seen avoiding a collision with a lorry.
According to reports, the drunk driver had admitted the injured man at the Oruwala hospital.
However, he was reported missing after the victim was pronounced dead. The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old father of five.
The Police have warned of a significant increase in accidents over the last few days.
A majority of the victims’ have been identified as pedestrians and people travelling on motorcycles and three-wheelers. (NewsWire)
