The Maritime Archaeology Unit has launched an initiative to place a collection of sculptures by various Sri Lankan artists in the seabed of the Unawatuna Sea.

The first such sculpture was placed in the seabed of the Unwatuna Sea today with an aim to develop dive tourism in Sri Lanka.

This project is a joint venture of the Galle fort art Gallery, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and Maritime Archaeology Unit of the Central Cultural Fund.

The originator of this project Janaka de Silva is reportedly planning to place around 25 more sculptures at the same place under the theme of “Border Crossing”. (NewsWire)
