It is with deep sadness that I hear of the unexpected death of versatile singer Sunil Perera who was well known to me, not only as a talented entertainer but as a true Christian.
who exercised his prophetic role in the country through the medium of music to awaken social reform in society.
Greatly talented in music, composition and singing, the late Sunil Perera was a person who, irrespective of political differences, had the courage to be critical of inustice and threats to political honesty and someone who stressed on the need for a deep sense of unity among the people and was deeply loyal to the motherland. He always stood on the side of the powerless.
We mourn his passing away. though what he has left us will continue to reverberate in our hearts and make us become more conscious of our social and spiritual responsibilities towards the others, especially towards the less priviledged sectors of society.
We pray that the good Lord will grant him the Grace of Heavenly happiness in recompense to his tremendous spirit of love for others, especially the downtrodden and the underprivileged.
