Litro Gas ordered to recall old gas cylinders

Litro Gas Lanka has been ordered to recall all sealed and unused LP Gas cylinders that were distributed before Saturday, the 4th of December. 

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has instructed the company to withdraw all gas cylinders that had been issued before the said date.

As per the order, Litro Gas Lanka will withdraw the stock of gas cylinders that are currently in households and shops.

Meanwhile, Prof. Shantha Walpalage of the Moratuwa University said 430 gas-related incidents had been reported in the country in the last one week.

Walpalage, who is the Chairman of the Presidential Committee appointed to investigate gas-related explosions, said the incidents were reported from 29th November 29 to 5th December.

Litro Gas Lanka yesterday commenced the distribution of domestic LP gas conforming to the requirements of the Consumer Affairs Authority after several gas-related incidents were reported recently.

Briefing the public, the CAA said the new stock of domestic gas cylinders carries Polythene seals with a red logo on a white background along with the Litro Gas Lanka logo on the valves. 

The domestic gas cylinders distributed by Laugfs Gas PLC are of yellow and blue colours, and also carry a Polythene seal.

The two gas companies commenced the distribution of the new stocks of domestic gas cylinders yesterday. (NewsWire)
