Indian fishermen rescue Sri Lankan counterparts in distress

A Sri Lankan fishing boat that was in distress in mid seas has been rescued by a group of Indian fishermen last week.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka said the Sri Lankan fishing vessel, Lulu-01, was facing considerable difficulties in deep waters on 02nd December 2021 and was sighted by an Indian fishing boat 24 nautical miles North of Chennai. 

Concerned for the safety of the Sri Lankan vessel and the people on board, the Indian fishing boat successfully towed the Sri Lankan vessel to the safety of Adani Port, Kattupalli. 

The Indian High Commission said all the four crew members of the Sri Lankan vessel are safe and have been provided necessary assistance by Indian authorities.

The High Commission further said the humanitarian gesture by the Indian fishermen reflects the goodwill and friendship between India and Sri Lanka and their peoples. (NewsWire)
