Former Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Chief Marshal P. H. Mendis has passed away, Sri Lanka Air Force announced today.
Air Chief Marshal Pathman Hariprasadha Mendis, more fondly known as ‘Paddy’ Mendis, became the youngest Commander of the Air Force, at the age of 38 years and the youngest Commander of an Armed Service in Ceylon, with his appointment on 1st January 1971.
