The prevalent fuel and power crisis in Sri Lanka has severely affected the tourism sector of the country.

Several foreign tourists in Sri Lanka have been affected due to the constant power cuts and lack of fuel to travel as planned.

Many tourists in the country have been forced to cancel their travel plans as their pre-booked vehicles are unable to find sufficient fuel for the long-distance trips.

Meanwhile, the power disruptions have affected small restaurants mostly in the Southern Province which are frequented by foreign tourists.

Several of the foreign tourists currently in Sri Lanka and those planning on visiting Sri Lanka have raised concerns on social media platforms over the current uncertain situation in the country.

Earlier today, traffic congestions were reported in several areas of Colombo due to long queues near filling stations.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had instructed all Police Stations to implement special security plans surrounding fuel stations in the country.

The directive also instructed to prioritize vehicles related to the farming, tourism, fire brigade, and ambulance services. (NewsWire)
