New mobile app to monitor fuel queues in Vavuniya

July 7, 2022 at 3:39 PM

The Vavuniya District Secretariat is conducting a trial of a mobile application created to monitor and ease congestion at fuel stations.

The mobile app has been created by Panchalingam Thusitharan from the Vavuniya District Secretariat.

The number plates of vehicles and the National Identity Card numbers of those arriving at fuel stations are inserted into the app.

Thereafter, the app will in turn show data on whether the vehicle has pumped fuel at other fuel stations in the Vavuniya District and the quantity received.

Vehicles that have received fuel will not be provided fuel for the next three days, after which time they could pump fuel again.

Officials from the Vavuniya District Secretariat believe that this will enable them to reduce the queues at fuel stations and provide sufficient fuel to all vehicles. (NewsWire)
