The Police have sought the assistance of the public to identify suspects involved in the assault of a group of Police officers, including the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon in May.
A day after the 09 May unrest, SDIG Deshabandu Tennakoon was injured after being assaulted by a group of the public near Gangarama in Colombo.
He was confronted by the public while travelling in his official vehicle along with a few other Police officers on Perera Mawatha.
The Police said a Senior Police officer and two other Police Officers had also been injured in the incident.
